Beginner/Novice class

The Beginner/Novice class is for those who have little or no experience in the art of stained glass. Classes will be offered in the fall, dates TBD, and will span five to six weeks, meeting Saturday mornings from 10am until noon. In order to provide for the best individual instruction, class size is limited to between six and eight people. All ages are welcome to attend, but we ask that children be accompanied by a parent or other adult.

Classes cost $75 for the full course. This includes tuition, as well as a few basic starter items, such as a pattern, glass cutter, running pliers, flux, and a flux brush. Additionaly you will need to choose glass, solder, a soldering iron, and copper foil, which can be purchased for about $100-$150. However, if you already have your own supplies, feel free to bring them to class.

The beginner class is designed to introduce you to the basic concepts of Stained Glass. You will be familiarized with materials and tools, and gain hands-on experience cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing glass. Students will be guided through the process of creating a simple piece from a pattern, and equipped with the basic skills nescessary to pursue the art on their own.  A sample sylabus follows:
